Differences in materials and structures
First of all, from the perspective of material composition, waterproof honeycomb activated carbon and ordinary type may be similar in basic materials. Both use high-quality coal, wood or coconut shell as raw materials, and are made through processes such as crushing, mixing, extrusion molding, carbonization and activation.
However, during the post-molding processing of waterproof honeycomb activated carbon, one or more layers of waterproofing agents will be added. These waterproofing agents are mostly inorganic or polymer materials, which can form a dense protective film covering the surface of activated carbon, effectively preventing water penetration, thereby maintaining the stability of its internal structure and adsorption efficiency. In contrast, ordinary honeycomb activated carbon has not undergone such waterproofing treatment, and its surface is relatively open. Although it is conducive to the rapid passage and adsorption of gas or liquid, it is easy to cause pore blockage due to water absorption in humid or water-containing environments, affecting adsorption performance and service life.
Adsorption performance and application areas
In terms of adsorption performance, waterproof honeycomb activated carbon can maintain high adsorption efficiency and stability in high humidity or underwater environments because it effectively prevents water from eroding the internal structure. Waterproof honeycomb activated carbon is particularly suitable for environments with high water vapor content due to its water resistance, such as wastewater treatment, recovery and adsorption of organic solvents, and the use of various catalyst carriers. There is no need to worry about the product breaking or pulverizing due to water.
Ordinary honeycomb activated carbon is more suitable for general air purification, industrial waste gas treatment and other environments. Its cost is relatively low and its application range is wide.
Durability and maintenance cost
In terms of durability, waterproof honeycomb activated carbon can operate stably for a long time in harsh environments due to its waterproof function, reducing performance degradation and replacement frequency caused by water erosion, thereby reducing maintenance costs. For systems that require long-term continuous operation and high environmental humidity, choosing waterproof honeycomb activated carbon is undoubtedly a more economical and efficient choice. Although ordinary honeycomb activated carbon has a lower cost, it may need to be replaced more frequently in high humidity environments, increasing operating costs.
Physical properties:
Due to its special processing technology, waterproof honeycomb activated carbon has better physical properties, such as higher strength and better water resistance. Ordinary types are relatively ordinary in these aspects.
Comprehensive comparison and selection suggestions
In summary, there are significant differences between the waterproof type and the ordinary type of honeycomb activated carbon in terms of material structure, adsorption performance, durability, maintenance cost, and environmental sustainability.
